FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine and aims at diagnosing an abscess and phlegmon in patients with pancreatonecrosis. Method comprises quantitative determination of acetic, propionic, butyric and isovaleric acids in a blood gas chromatography method using a capillary column, calculating the sum of said acids, and if any of five values: acetic acid is more than 0.24910 mmol/l, propionic acid is more than 0.00902 mmol/l, butyric acid is more than 0.00341 mmol/l, isovaleric acid is more than 0.00016 mmol/l, the sum of volatile fatty acids more than 0.25985 mmol/l are diagnosed with retroperitoneal phlegmon; and with any of five values: acetic acid ranging from 0.11000 to 0.24910 mmol/l, propionic acid from 0.00630 to 0.00902 mmol/l, butyric acid from 0.00150 to 0.00341 mmol/l, isovaleric acid from 0.00005 to 0.00016 mmol/l, sums of volatile fatty acids of 0.12235 to 0.25985 mmol/l, abdominal abscess is diagnosed.

EFFECT: method enables higher diagnostic accuracy of abdominal abscess and retroperitoneal phlegmon.
