FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of removing hydrogen sulphide and regenerating sulphur from a gas stream containing hydrogen sulphide, direct catalytic oxidation and Claus reaction, more specifically to monitoring and optimizing said method. Method is implemented by means of two or more series-connected catalytic reactors, in which special control of added oxygen is carried out. Monitoring and improvement of the process are carried out by adding a gas stream containing hydrogen sulphide at each main stage of the process, with a suitable oxygen flow to the inlet of a gas stream containing hydrogen sulphide into a Claus furnace in the first reactor of the process and in the last reactor of the process. When using the method of regenerating sulphur by sub-temperature condensation, the ratio H2S/SO2 is also kept constant during reactors switching, adding the last auxiliary oxygen-containing gas immediately before the last reactor so that the ratio H2S/SO2 could follow signal of air demand analyzer within several seconds.
EFFECT: invention provides reliable Claus process control, high operational accessibility of the process, as well as high desulphurisation efficiency, which is stable during the process, and which compensates for any variation of ratio H2S/SO2 in the outlet of the process with high reactivity, in particular, when switching of reactors is necessary for catalyst regeneration.
