FIELD: electricity.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to device for generating mega-ampere current pulses to create powerful sources of soft X-ray. Device comprises coaxially located in vacuum central electrode, first and second electrode rings, direct and reverse current conductors, as well as cylindrical liner assemblies of circuit breaker and load arranged between central electrode and first and second electrode rings, respectively. At that, the direct current conductor intended for supply to the current assemblies from the generator is electrically connected to the central electrode and passes through the first electrode ring, and return current conductor is electrically connected to electrode rings along periphery. Central electrode is made in the form of a disc common for both assemblies, the diameter of which is larger than the diameter of the circuit breaker assembly, and an electrically conductive plug is inserted into the second electrode ring, to which the liner load assembly is electrically connected.

EFFECT: high efficiency of generating mega-ampere current pulses by increasing the time of holding the circuit of the liner assembly of the load in a condition which is practically disconnected from the circuit of the liner assembly of the circuit breaker when the device is powered by a mega-ampere current pulse with a microsecond rise time and due to improved implosion parameters of the liner load.
