FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of aluminum by electrolysis of cryolite-alumina melt, in particular to method of controlling content of alumina during electrolysis of cryolite-alumina melt. Method includes determination of empirical linear dependence of concentration of alumina in cryolite-alumina melt against anode overvoltage, which is corrected by means of system of automatic supply of alumina into electrolytic cell, tuned to change of anode overvoltage, measured by means of gas electrode from mixture of CO and CO2.
EFFECT: possibility of fast and accurate determination and monitoring of concentration of alumina in cryolite-alumina melt due to stability, accuracy and reliability of measurement of value of anode overvoltage.
