FIELD: radio engineering; radar ranging.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to passive radar ranging and can be used in a radio monitoring system to determine the location of a ground-based stationary source of pulsed radio signals with a fixed pulse repetition period. Result is achieved due to the fact that the method of determining the location of ground stationary sources of pulsed radio signals is based on arrangement in the intended location area of the source of pulsed radio signals of one unmanned aerial vehicle of the "convertoplane" type (hereinafter UAV sensor), equipped with a navigation-time provision unit, a non-directional antenna, a radio receiving device, a device for generating a "virtual" reference pulse signal and a transceiver, detecting a pulsed radio signal with a fixed pulse repetition period by the UAV sensor, measuring the difference in time of arrival of a radio signal in spatially spaced observation points, wherein the total number of observation points is not less than three, transmitting the obtained values to the ground control station and processing and determining the location of the source of the pulsed radio signal by a ranging method, wherein the difference in arrival time of the signal in spatially spaced observation points is estimated by comparing the arrival time of pulses of the received radio signal at the observation points with the reference "virtual" copy, which is formed onboard the UAV sensor at the first observation point and generated during the entire time of monitoring the source.

EFFECT: technical result is reducing the number of receiving points (up to one) required to implement a distance-ranging method of determining location of a ground-based pulse radio signal source, avoiding the need for high-precision time synchronization and high-speed communication channels, required for relaying a signal, between receiving points.
