FIELD: physics; chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to calibration of detecting devices. Method of calibrating the detection device involves introducing a calibration sample containing isoflurane into the detection device; accumulation of experimental data relating to detection of negative ions of monomer and isoflurane dimer formed as a result of ionisation of calibration sample; and calibrating the detector for detecting a known target chemical based on comparing the experimental data accumulated for the negative ion of the isoflurane monomer, and experimental data accumulated for the negative ion of the isoflurane dimer. Detector comprises an ioniser for ionisation of the sample, a detector for detecting ions formed as a result of ionisation, wherein the detector is used to characterize ions detected based on time of passage of ions from the array along the drift chamber into the detector. Also disclosed is a system for calibrating a detection device and use of a calibration sample containing isoflurane or substantially consisting of isoflurane, and as a standard of mobility, and as a standard of a measuring device for calibrating a detecting device.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides the effective use of isoflurane as a mobility standard and a measuring device standard.
