FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a composition of a protective and abradable coating for application on rollers, and more specifically to rollers of a conveyor for movement of metal sheets, containing an abradable coating for use at high temperatures, to a method for making such rollers and to use thereof. Coating contains 83–98 wt. % of aggregate containing Si3N4 particles, SiC or SiAlON or mixture thereof with specific surface area (BET) of less than 8 m2/g, and 2–17 wt. % of submicron particles Al2O3, SiO2, ZrO2, CeO2, Y2O3 or mixtures thereof. Average thickness of coating is at least 150 mcm. Composition is applied on the roller by spraying, immersion, pouring or plasma spraying with further drying. Technical result of invention is reduction of corrosion occurring under action of aluminium melt, and removal of accumulated substances from surface of coating under action of friction.
EFFECT: as a result, roller life is increased.
