FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy and can be used for production of bimetallic work pieces by forging of liquid metal. Liquid metal of the base is poured into the matrix of the punching plant of liquid metal. Then working insert made of sintered powder material is immersed into liquid metal, which is in matrix, and fixed in required position. Duration of forming with holding at pressure is sufficient for surface diffusion of base metal into pores of sintered material of working insert and crystallisation of liquid metal of base. Coefficient of thermal expansion of the base material is 10–30 % higher than that of the material of the working insert.
EFFECT: higher strength of connection of layers of bimetallic article and higher efficiency of process.
