FIELD: measurement.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to instrumentation and can be used for determination of operating condition of medium-voltage switching device (1), wherein said switching device comprises one or more electrical leads, each of which comprises movable contact (11) and fixed contact (12), electromagnetic drive (13) for engaging one or more moving contacts of electric terminals, wherein said electromagnetic drive has at least testing winding (132, 134, 136) wound around a magnetic element, capacitor bank (15) for supplying electric power to said electromagnetic drive. Essence: in testing winding for period of time (TO), a test signal (ST) is sent, wherein said test signal has a shape which enables excitation of said magnetic element. First data (VC) measurements characterizing voltage at first outputs (T1) of said capacitor bank during said observation period of time. Second data (VL, IL) measurements characterizing voltage at second outputs (T2) of testing winding and characterizing current circulating along said testing winding during said observation period of time. Based on said first and second measurement data, estimates are obtained which characterize the operating state of the capacitor bank at the end of the observation time period, wherein the estimate data comprise a first estimated value which characterizes capacitance of the capacitor bank.

EFFECT: technical result is possibility of obtaining reliable information on condition of capacitor bank of switching device.
