FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the art of graphics and can be used to reproduce author drawings on an engraving board by the deep engraving method. Method of reproducing author drawings on an intaglio graph using the deep engraving includes making, on the board surface, an author pattern, coating the board with a protective layer, removing the pattern, deepening the metal pattern etched in place by etching, removing the protective layer, printing the impressions in a known manner, wherein the metallographic board is made of a metal or an alloy having an electrode potential which is more negative than the copper electrode potential, the protective layer is a layer of copper or its alloy deposited in a known manner on the surface of the board, free from the pattern, and after removing pattern etching is carried out in solution, in which cavity of exposed in place metal pattern is mainly due to reaction of contact exchange between base metal and copper ions.

EFFECT: reduced labour input of the method and higher resolution and graphic capabilities of the produced engraving.
