FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of wear-resistant coating for cutting tools. Method includes vacuum-plasma application of coating from nitride or carbonitride of titanium, aluminium, silicon, chrome and iron at a ratio of, wt. %: titanium 56.58, aluminium 9.28, silicon 0.83, chromium 31.89, iron 1.42, by means of three cathodes located horizontally in one plane, the first one of which is made of titanium and silicon alloy, the second one is made of titanium alloy and aluminium and is located opposite the first cathode, and the third one is made of chromium and iron and is located between the first and second cathodes.
EFFECT: higher efficiency of cutting tool with applied coating.
