FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to production of wear-resistant coating for cutting tools. Method includes vacuum-plasma application of coating of nitride or carbonitride of titanium, silicon, aluminium, chrome and iron at a ratio of, wt. %: titanium 57.09, silicon 0.81, aluminium 9.31, chrome 31.46, iron 1.33, by means of horizontally located in one plane of three cathodes, the first of which is made of titanium, silicon and aluminium alloy, second one is made of chromium and iron and arranged opposite to first cathode, and third one is made of titanium and arranged between first and second cathode.
EFFECT: increased functionality of cutting tool.
