FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: vacuum-plasma application of the wear-resistant coating out of titanium, aluminium, niobium and chrome nitride or carbonitride in the following ratio, wt %: titanium 57.12, silicone 0.85, aluminium 9.46, niobium 20.89, chrome 11.68. Coating is applied by the horizontally installed in same plane three cathodes, first is made out of titanium, silicone and aluminium alloy, the second is made out of niobium and chrome, and is installed opposite to the first one, and third cathode is made out of titanium and is installed between them.
EFFECT: improved serviceability of a cutting tool.
