FIELD: electronic equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to electronic engineering, in particular to creation of cathode-mesh assemblies for vacuum electronic devices, including powerful pulsed devices of microwave range with low-voltage grid control of electron beam. In the method of making a cathode-mesh assembly with a shadow mesh built into the cathode, which includes making grooves in the cathode tablet and placing the shadow mesh links in them, formation of grooves in cathode tablet is performed by electric-spark method directly by bridges of shadow grid. Depth of the grooves is formed such that after heating the cathode to operating temperature the lower plane of the jumpers of the shadow mesh is located on the bottoms of the grooves, and the upper plane of the jumpers of the shadow mesh rises over the emitting surface of the cathode by not more than 10 mcm.
EFFECT: higher durability of the thermionic cathode, improved laminarity of the electron stream, as well as providing minimum spread of electron trajectory inclination angles.
