SUBSTANCE: in construction of a cathode-grid knot with at least one auto emission cathode of a carbon material, the cathode tip has a parabolic surface in cross-section on which conical shaped tips are formed. The axes of symmetry of each cathode coincide with the axes of symmetry of the holes in the grid. Parabolic shape tops of cathodes provide the same field strength and emission uniformity across the entire surface of the cathode, and the presence of tips reduces the operating voltage on the grid.

EFFECT: increasing the uniformity of field emission over the entire surface of the cathode and increasing the current drawn from the cathode.
