FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a wedge mechanism comprising four wedge elements (1, 2, 3, 4). First wedge element (1) and second wedge element (2) are movable in direction towards each other and from each other. Third wedge element (3) and the fourth wedge element (4) are located on opposite sides of the first two wedge elements (1, 2), adjacent to them along inclined surfaces. Third and fourth wedge elements (3, 4) move in direction from each other when first and second wedge elements (1, 2) move towards each other, and third and fourth wedge elements can move towards each other when first and second wedge elements (1, 2) move in direction from each other. Movement is carried out due to that first part (7) is fixed with possibility of rotation in first wedge element (1), and second part (6, 40) is fixed without possibility of rotation in second wedge element (2). First and second parts (7, 6, 40) comprise interacting threads made so that first and second parts (7, 6, 40) move relative to each other when first part (7) is rotated relative to second part (6, 40).
EFFECT: disclosed is a wedge compression mechanism.
