FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metallurgy, particularly, to production of ingots from alloys based on titanium and aluminum intermetallic compound containing up to 30–70 wt% of aluminum. As initial materials there are used ingots of titanium and aluminum, stage of preparation of initial materials is carried out by calculation of required section of strips of titanium and aluminum, for making titanium and aluminum ingots on a strip profile in accordance with the calculated dimensions and machining the surface of the obtained strips, and manufacturing of the consumable electrode is carried out by assembling a stack of two or more obtained strips of titanium and aluminum of rectangular cross-section, wherein one of the ends of the strips of titanium and aluminum is processed under a device for fixing the plates between each other and suspensions of the assembled stack on the rod of the furnace, and performing electron-beam remelting of the obtained consumable electrode.
EFFECT: invention allows to weld ingots of alloys based on titanium and aluminum intermetallides, excluding the possibility of melting of such materials on air and their contact with ceramic refractories, and also obtain other ingots of intermetallic alloys containing niobium, vanadium, chromium both as constituents and alloying components.
