FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a mold opening and closing mechanism for a molding machine of articles of this type, a method of opening and closing molds for a machine for molding glass articles of this type. Mold opening and closing mechanism for this type of glass articles molding machine comprises at least one mold divided into two mold halves, which are opened and closed for forming a glass article, includes: support structure; a pair of support arms independently mounted opposite each other and spaced apart in parallel on the support structure. Said mechanism also comprises mold synchronization means arranged to move in said second pivot point of mold support levers and to move inward or outward to open and close molds. Said mechanism also comprises a lever means, the first end of which is pivotally connected to the mold synchronization means for providing the hinged movement of the mold synchronization means and the second end of which is connected to the support structure for rotation in the fixed point. Lever and a pair of support levers transmit hinge movement inside or outside such mold locking device to close or open molds. Said mechanism also comprises drive means coupled with support structure. Every said drive comprises output shaft to turn thereon. Said mechanism also comprises interconnection means hinged and separately connected by means of each of support levers and with output shafts of drive means. By means of the first turn of the output shaft of the drive means the support levers, the lever means and the mold synchronization device are moved to the closed position of the molds. By means of the second movement, in the opposite direction, each element of the support levers, lever means, synchronization means and each of the mold halves move to the open position.

EFFECT: reduced wear of mechanism.
