FIELD: medicine; pharmacology.
SUBSTANCE: invention refers to medicine, namely to pharmacology, and concerns use of vegetable water-soluble polysaccharides with molecular weight of 1,070±50 and 17±2 kDa, extracted by means of the declared method from an elevated part of alfalfa (Medicago sativa L.), as an immunomodulatory agent for activation of antigen-presenting cells and selective stimulation of interleukin-12 production, tumor necrosis factor-alpha by macrophages and interferon-gamma lymphocytes.
EFFECT: invention enables extending the range of low-toxicity immunomodulatory agents for preventing and treating disorders of pathological conditions of the immune system in the therapy of chronic inflammatory diseases, including in paediatrics and gerontology, as well as in people with low reactivity of the immune system, characterized by high biological compatibility and biodegradability.
