FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to processing and methods of recovery of rubber wastes of rubber-technical production, as well as rubber-containing wastes, in particular crumbs, borings and chips produced after processing of old tires of vehicles. Method and apparatus are based on regeneration (devulcanisation) of wastes in mixing rolls using liquid modifiers. Method of regeneration includes preparation of modifier and its mixing with regenerated material. Modifier is fed in two stages. At first step modifier in amount of not more than 60–70 % (weight units) of required design weight is introduced into intermediate hopper. Modifier is introduced during first two passages of regenerated material through rollers. Mixing and softening of crumb and chips surface is performed in spiral conveyor. At third pass through rolls portion of material is accumulated in nutrient device. Second portion of the modifier is introduced into the nutrient device, which makes 40–30 % (weight units) of the total required amount and is mixed with the regenerated material for 2.0–2.5 minutes. Portion of material is passed through rolls 5–6 times, reducing gap between rolls by 0.15–0.4 mm after each passage. Obtained regenerate in the form of spongy crumbs or thin sheets is fed into a finished product storage.

EFFECT: invention allows to enhance the end product quality, completely preserve blend composition of initial rubber wastes, crumbs and chips, reduce energy consumption during regeneration and prime cost of processing.
