SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an intelligent server rack and a method of managing IP addresses. Server rack comprises rack control controller (RMC); rack control system connected to RMC; multiple server sockets; multiple servers located in each server socket and containing a motherboard control controller (BMC); a set of internal cables for hardware for determining the respective positions of multiple server slots and the RMC connection with each of the servers located in each of the server slots; wherein the rack control system is configured to confirm the replacement position of one of the server slots, which corresponds to the new server, based on content of the controller control board of the motherboard by RMC and a set of internal cables for the hardware when replacing one of the plurality of servers with the new server, and wherein the rack control system is configured to request a lookup table to obtain an IP address associated with the server socket corresponding to the new server, and assigns the new server IP address BMC to replace the other IP address currently using the new server BMC.
EFFECT: technical result consists in automation of connection of servers to a rack.
