FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to protection of steel articles against corrosion and mechanical wear and can be used in machine building, oil and chemical industries. Method of forming an oxide titanium coating on a steel plate surface, comprising depositing on a steel plate surface a suspension layer having the following composition H2O + Na2SiO3+ K0.06TiO2, drying suspension and subsequent thermal treatment in the temperature range of 1100–1200 °C, where suspension is used at the following weight ratio: H2O:Na2SiO3 (in NaOHaq.):K0.06TiO2 = 1:0.05:0.05, with particle size of up to 150 nm.
EFFECT: invention provides longer service life of steel products due to high corrosion resistance, mechanical and chemical resistance, as well as high strength of adhesion of oxide coating with steel base.
