FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in fuel management systems for internal combustion engines. Different methods of fuel pump operation are proposed. In one example, proposed is a method of actuating fuel pump, providing for iterative reduction of duration of low-pressure fuel pump switching pulse, until the peak pressure at the outlet of the fuel pump drops from the peak pressure at the outlet corresponding to the previous pulse, to determine the minimum pulse duration and pulse delivery with minimum duration to the fuel pump.
EFFECT: invention allows to minimize power consumption of fuel pump at maintaining supply of sufficient volume of fuel to engine.
