FIELD: metallurgy.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of preparing sheet metal with a pre-applied coating for its welding with another sheet metal with a pre-applied coating, sheet metal and a method of making a welded workpiece. Method of preparation involves production of sheet metal (1) with preliminary applied coating, which includes metal substrate (3) equipped with at least one of its face surfaces (10) with a layer of preliminary applied coating (5). Removal of at least one face surface (10) of said sheet metal (1) with pre-coated at least a portion of said layer of pre-applied coating (5) so as to form removal zone (7). Removal is carried out as a result of action of laser beam (15) on said layer of pre-applied coating (5) with relative displacement of said laser beam (15) relative to sheet metal (1) in direction of working stroke (A). Laser beam (15) is inclined relative to face surface (10) of sheet metal (1) such that orthogonal projection of laser beam (15) on said face surface (10) of sheet metal (1) is located in area of sheet metal (1), in which removal has already been carried out, and it forms inclination angle (α) in range from 12 to 50° with direction normal (N) to front surface (10) of sheet metal (1).

EFFECT: disclosed is a method of producing sheet metal with a pre-applied coating when removing the coating using an inclined laser beam and a corresponding sheet metal.
