FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to the determination of the viscosity coefficient of a low-volume liquid by electrophoresis. Method involves preparing the analysed and reference liquids, immersing the litmus paper in the substance and placing the electrodes. At the same time litmus paper is filled under washers of terminals, to which electrodes are screwed, in the centre of litmus paper there placed is a thread moistened with sodium hydroxide, voltage is set in electric circuit of direct current of not more than 80 V and electric current is connected, examination is carried out first with the reference liquid, then with the analysed liquid, from the change of colour of the litmus paper, the distance covered by the OH ion is determined-, time is fixed, then viscosity of analysed substance is determined using specified ratio. Also disclosed is an apparatus for determining viscosity of a low-volume substance by electrophoresis.

EFFECT: possibility of investigating liquids of different degree of viscosity in small volumes from 0,2 to 1 ml.
