FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of coating metal surfaces of substrates using aqueous compositions in the form of a dispersion and/or suspension which contain at least one stabilized binder and one gelling agent and by means of which at the pretreatment and/or contacting step, cations extracted by dissolving from the metal surface form a coating based on ionic gel, wherein the coating is carried out by: I) providing a substrate with a cleaned metal surface, ii) contacting the metal surfaces with the first aqueous composition in the form of a dispersion and/or suspension and applying thereto a coating, III) if necessary to wash organic coating, iv) if necessary to dry organic coating and V) coating with at least two additional compositions for applying coatings before drying and cross-linking all deposited layers, wherein the stabilized binding agents are selected from a group consisting of: non-ionically stabilized polyepoxy dispersions, non-ionically stabilized polyurethane dispersions and ionically stabilized polyacrylate dispersions, wherein the stabilized binding agents must satisfy the condition that a) an aqueous mixture of completely desalinated water, from 0.2 to 2 wt. % of gelling agent and from 5 to 20 wt. % of stabilized binder; b) adjusting to pH from 1 to 7; c) the cleaned substrate is immersed into the mixture in accordance with b) for 1–15 minutes at room temperature and d) checking whether organic coating deposition of at least 1 mcm has occurred, wherein e) is additionally tested without a gelling agent, by obtaining a mixture of completely desalinated water and from 5 to 20 wt. % subject to verification of dispersion; f) mixture obtained in e) is also brought to pH from 1 to 7 and g) repeated as described in c) and d) verification.

EFFECT: disclosed is a method of coating metal surfaces of substrates coated with said method.
