FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of forming a catalytic layer of a solid polymer fuel cell. According to the invention, the method involves treating carbon nanofibres in a solution of a strong inorganic acid, filtering the treated carbon nanofibres, washing and drying them, obtaining a Nafion suspension by adding to the volume of a Nafion solution with a C = 1–2 wt % in volatile solvent of one or two volumes of water, mixing dried carbon nanofibres with platinised carbon black containing 20–60 wt % platinum, and with obtained suspension of Nafion, dispersion of obtained catalytic mixture and its application on heated to temperature of 70–90 °C proton-conducting membrane.
EFFECT: higher specific power of fuel cell due to more efficient use of platinum.
