FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to electrodynamic brake systems for vehicles. Device for energy conversion for vehicle comprises, in one operating mode, a unit with at least one synchronous machine operating as a generator, an energy removal device intended for discharging by the generated electric power generator, resistance unit, data recording and processing unit and control unit. Data recording and processing unit is configured to detect kinematic parameter of vehicle, wherein the kinematic parameter is the vehicle speed. Control unit is designed to switch on the selected ones out of the total number of operating modes, in which the resistance unit respectively provides different resistance parameters depending on the detected kinematic parameter. At that, when switching from the first operating mode to the second operating mode, the value of resistance during transition from the high speed range to the medium speed range is reduced. Also disclosed are a vehicle with said energy conversion device and a method of converting energy in a vehicle.

EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of vehicle braking efficiency.
