FIELD: medicine; pharmaceuticals.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to pharmacy, particularly to the chemical-pharmaceutical industry, and concerns a method for producing novel semisynthetic derivatives of lutein and astaxanthin and can be used to produce medicinal preparations based on these compounds. Described is synthesis of semisynthetic derivatives of individual natural carotenoids, in particular lutein and benzoic acid esters, lutein and n-methylbenzoic acid (n-toluic acid), lutein and nicotinic acid, lutein and mandelic acid, astaxanthin and benzoic acid, astaxanthin and n-methylbenzoic acid (n-toluic acid), astaxanthin and nicotinic acid, astaxanthin and mandelic acid. Method of synthesis of lesthein and astaxanthin esters is carried out in the presence of Novozym 435 biocatalyst.

EFFECT: synthesis of semisynthetic derivatives of natural lutein and astaxanthin does not require complex and expensive technical equipment, enables to obtain lesthein and astaxanthin esters, which are further used to develop new drugs.
