FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalyst intended for synthesis of oxalate via CO binding reaction. Said catalyst comprises (a) an active component containing palladium (Pd) or an oxide thereof; (b) an auxiliary substance comprising an auxiliary element selected from the group consisting of nickel, cobalt, manganese, zirconium, cerium, lanthanum, molybdenum, barium, vanadium, titanium, iron, yttrium, niobium, tungsten, tin and bismuth; and (c) a carrier consisting of hollow microspheres of α-Al2O3. Also disclosed is a method of producing said catalyst and a method for use thereof in synthesis of oxalate in a gas-phase reaction between carbon monoxide (CO) and methylnitrite (MN).
EFFECT: reduced concentration of precious metal, high activity and stability of the catalyst.
