FIELD: catalysts.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to catalysts, in particular to a process for producing a cobalt-containing catalyst precursor which is a hydrocarbon synthesis catalyst precursor. The invention discloses a process for preparing a cobalt-containing catalyst precursor, comprising calcining a modified silica-based catalyst support containing cobalt nitrate. When the modified catalyst support is calcined, cobalt nitrate is converted to cobalt oxide. Calcination is the heating of the modified catalyst carrier at a high heating rate, which is not less than 10°C per minute, within at least the temperature range A, which extends from the minimum temperature at which calcination of the modified catalyst carrier begins to 165°C. The gas stream is passed over the modified catalyst support within at least temperature range A at a gas hourly space velocity (GHSV) of at least 5 Nm3 per kg of cobalt nitrate per hour. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature at which calcination of the modified catalyst support starts is the temperature at which cobalt nitrate starts to decompose to release gaseous NO2 in quantities exceeding 1500 ppmv. The measurement is performed by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy with gas phase analysis at a heating rate of 0.5°C per minute in a He-based gas mixture containing 12% O2 at a gas flow rate of 0.5 ml/s. Also disclosed is a method for producing a catalyst, as well as methods for synthesizing hydrocarbons, which include the use of the specified catalyst.
EFFECT: increasing the catalytic activity and reducing the degree of destruction of the catalyst.
