FIELD: production technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to silicon purification technology, particularly to production of silicon used for production of photoelectric converters, and can be used to increase speed of direct purification of silicon. Substance of invention consists in use of reverse magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) mixing of melt, during which the mixing direction is cyclically changed with a time interval corresponding to the transient process transition time to the quasi-steady state with the steady-state distribution of mixing rates inside the melt.

EFFECT: high efficiency of purifying silicon owing to high intensity of mass transfer inside the liquid phase, which is provided by a reverse MHD mixing mode, wherein a complex turbulent movement of the melt is achieved.
