SUBSTANCE: invention relates to wireless communication. A method of configuring channel access parameters in a wireless communication system includes: selecting, at the access point, a first parameter of expanded distributed channel access (EDCA) for a first subset of stations in a plurality of stations, wherein first subset of stations allows transmission of multi-user uplink transmissions; selecting a second EDCA parameter for a second subset of stations in said plurality of stations; wherein the selection of the first EDCA parameter comprises setting a shorter transmission capability (TXOP) or a larger minimum contention width (CWmin) for the first subset of stations than the TXOP or CWmin limit for the second subset of stations, based on the fact that the first subset of stations has a first transmission capability for transmitting multi-user uplink transmissions; generating an information element including a first EDCA parameter or a second EDCA parameter, and transmitting said information element.

EFFECT: high efficiency of the CSMA mechanism and high network throughput.
