FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to modification of lubricating materials, particularly to production of additives to motor oil, and can be used to increase wear resistance of friction parts. Method of producing a lubricant modifying additive comprises adding nanosized silicon dioxide powder with average particle size of 50 to 300 nm to a base engine oil, wetting of the powder with the base engine oil and dispersion by means of ultrasonic oscillations in the mode of acoustic cavitation at the resonant frequency of order of 23 kHz.
EFFECT: invention is aimed at improving the quality of modifying additives based on nanosized silicon dioxide powder by increasing the surface wear resistance and reducing the friction coefficient.
