FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to microwave engineering, particularly, to microwave processing of materials. Installation of nonthermal modification of polymers in microwave electromagnetic field comprises working chamber of CBV made as a piece of rectangular wave conductor with cross-section of 45 mm × 90 mm with length of 1 m with protective gate turns at its ends, located in space such that wide wall of waveguide section is in vertical position, and narrow part – in horizontal, inside working chamber of CBV in middle part radiotransparent conveyor belt moves on surface of other radio-transparent tape, which serves as guide support, modified object is placed on conveyor belt so that it is located in area of highest uniformity of electric intensity of electromagnetic field, and thickness of modified polymer can vary from tenths of millimetre to value equal to 0.1⋅a, where a is the value of wide wall of rectangular waveguide.

EFFECT: possibility of non-thermal modification of physical and mechanical properties of polymer materials.
