FIELD: transportation.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to reloading containers by means of load handling devices – spreaders engaged with hoisting machines (HM) to grip containers for top fittings and move them to destination. Essence of the invention is that when reloading containers is carried out self-targeting of the spreader to a container, before which the spreader is brought into the zone of location of the container and power is supplied to electronic sensors installed on the corners of the spreader and connected to the ACS HM, and after self-guidance is completed, electronic sensors power is switched off. At that, spreader self-guidance to container is carried out at continuous measurement of height hc spreader position, comparison of measured values hc with set value hb, equal to height from spreader to container, signal generation Δ, equal to difference of specified values, and at Δ>0 supplying signal to ACS HM actuator, which allows horizontal movement of spreader and vertical movement blocking it, and at Δ=0 – signal allowing vertical spreader movement and horizontal movement blocking it.

EFFECT: invention increases technological effectiveness of the overload process.
