FIELD: internal combustion engines.
SUBSTANCE: present invention may be used in turbocharged internal combustion engines. Method for the engine consists in calculating the expected surging frequency by diagnosing based on the use of the model, taking into account the known volume of the supercharging collector. Actual surging frequency is calculated on the basis of output signal of pressure sensor. Value of the known volume of the supercharging collector is updated to obtain the updated value of the volume of the supercharging collector based on the difference between the expected surging frequency and the actual surging frequency. Parameters of engine operation are adjusted taking into account updated value of volume of supercharging collector. Engine operating parameters control includes control of fuel injector drive and/or throttle position adjustment. Version of the method for the engine and an engine system are disclosed.
EFFECT: technical result is higher accuracy of determining charge of air in cylinders.
