FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in processing surfaces of plastics, laminates and coatings. Matting agent for producing pigmented opaque surfaces contains agglomerates of pigment particles. Pigment particles are characterized by average size d50 in the range of values from 100 to 1,000 nm. Said agglomerates are characterized by average size d50 in the range of values from 2 to 200 mcm and specific surface area determined by the BET method, from 5 to 50 m2/g. Pigment particles are metal salt particles or metal oxide particles. To obtain a matting agent, the pigment particles are agglomerated by granulation, sintering, pressing in the form of either dispersion or subsequent drying.
EFFECT: invention enables to obtain pigmented opaque surfaces having high chemical stability, abrasion resistance and resistance to contamination.
