FIELD: cosmetic industry.
SUBSTANCE: group of inventions relates to a cosmetic composition. The cosmetic composition providing protection against UV-A and/or UV-B includes at least one inorganic UV filter and surface-treated calcium carbonate with a volumetric average particle diameter d50 within the range of 0.1 to 90 mcm, wherein the surface-treated calcium carbonate constitutes a product of interaction of natural ground calcium carbonate or precipitated calcium carbonate with carbon dioxide and one or more donors of H3O+ ions, wherein carbon dioxide is formed in situ during treatment with donors of H3O+ ions and/or comes from an external source. Also disclosed are a method for producing a cosmetic composition and an application of surface-treated calcium carbonate in order to increase the sunlight protection factor (SPF) of the cosmetic composition and to improve organoleptic properties of the cosmetic composition.
EFFECT: group of inventions provides increased level of protection against sunlight.
