FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to metal forming and can be used, in particular, for bar separation into dimensional billets. Proposed method comprises rod step-by-step feeding, rod clamping in fixed blade, rod end part equal to length of billet, axial force and cutting billet from said rod by means of movable knife with resilient element. Rod stepwise feed is performed with installation of longitudinal axis of its end part at an angle to longitudinal axis of bar, tangent of which does not exceed value of allowable elastic relative deflection of end part of rod, up to the stop in the form of a cylindrical roller having the possibility of rotation around an axis perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rod and installed below the longitudinal axis of the bar by a value equal to the value of elastic deflection of the end part of the bar. Clamping the bar in the fixed blade is performed by moving the elastic element of the movable knife. Rod end part compression with creation of axial spacer force and compressive stresses in zone of measured billet cutting from bar, exceeding tensile stresses occurring in this zone during cutting of billet from bar, it is made by turning end part of rod by rolling its end surface along cylindrical surface of roller till moment of measuring billet from rod.

EFFECT: result is improved quality of obtained workpieces with expansion of process capabilities of separation process.
