FIELD: process engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, particularly, to gear wheel billet hardening by plastic forming performed with the help of toothed burnisher. Said burnisher comprises hub jointed with rim divided in parts located perpendicular to tool axis. Every part of said rim is composed by disc varying its position relative to burnisher axis and adjacent disc. Outer working surface of teeth on every disc is composed by round section wire with parts bent, shaped to tooth contour and rigidly secured on disc in two cross rows to position rods across tooth direction. Wire rods in contact with index head and billet tooth index root are shaped with due allowance for interference to make separate cross row. Epilam layer is applied on wire rod working surfaces.
EFFECT: higher efficiency, larger depth of hardened layer, reduced roughness.
