METHOD FOR SPINAL INJURY MODELING Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC G09B23/28

Abstract RU 2704103 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention refers to experimental medicine and can be used to simulate a spinal cord injury of a rabbit. Method involves anesthesia and spinal injuries. Spinal injuries are performed by direct access to the spinal cord. Skin is longitudinally extended over vertebra at 2-3 vertebrae above and below the planned level of damage above the corresponding spinous processes. Subcutaneous fascia is incised along a skin incision, on both sides on a two-sided path spinous processes and arches of the corresponding vertebrae are skeletonized. Bone fragment of the spinous process of the prospective level of the injury is removed, and access to the posterior surface of the dural sac with the underlying spinal cord at the specified level is opened. Intact dura mater in the region of the distal spinous process is once damaged by a metal hammer with a nozzle of diameter equal to the size of the spinal cord with an impact energy of 0.07–0.08 J.

EFFECT: method provides simulating a spinal injure with a persistent neurological deficiency in the form of pareses without animal death due to the impact with energy of 0.07–0.08 J.
