METHOD FOR MODELING TRAUMATIC INJURY OF SPINAL CORD FROM VENTAL ACCESS IN LUMBAR SPINE Russian patent published in 2022 - IPC G09B23/28

Abstract RU 2768486 C1

FIELD: medicine.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medicine, namely to experimental medicine, neurosurgery, traumatology and orthopedics, and can be used for modeling traumatic spinal cord injury in the lumbar region. Surgical access to the spinal column and damage to the spinal cord is carried out from the ventral retroperitoneal approach. The skin, subcutaneous adipose tissue and external oblique muscle of the abdomen are dissected along the pararectal line of the abdomen. Using a blunt method, the external and internal oblique muscles of the abdomen are stratified to the spine. The internal oblique and transverse abdominal muscles are dissected along the line of the transverse processes to access the retroperitoneal space. The organs and retroperitoneal tissue are pushed aside, a 3-5 mm hole is drilled in the vertebral body with a bone cutter with a diameter of 3 mm, through which the spinal cord is damaged using a percussion device.

EFFECT: method ensures the creation of a persistent neurological deficit in the form of severe paresis of the limbs, which is not accompanied by the death of a laboratory animal due to the technique of access to the structures of the spine.
