FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of modifying inorganic aluminosilicate filler, montmorillonite (clay) MMT using organic water-soluble biodegradable modifiers and can be used in making composites with improved characteristics (high degree of grafting and physical and mechanical properties). It can be used in medicine as biodegradable implants for targeted drug delivery into the body. Method of producing organomodified montmorillonite (MMT) by mixing of MMT previously dispersed in water with water-soluble oxy- or amino acids or their mixtures, lactones or lactams, followed by copolycondensation of component at temperature of 20–100 °C and initial weight ratio of MMT:Modifier:Water=2–30:1.5–50:40–95, with removal of water during copolycondensation. Oxyacids used are lactic or glycolic acid, ε-aminocaproic acid is used as amino acids, lactide, or glycolide, or ε-caprolactone is used as lactones, ε-caprolactam is chosen as lactams.

EFFECT: invention allows reducing the temperature of the grafting process up to room temperature and increasing the degree of grafting of the organic component.
