FIELD: internal combustion engines.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Disclosed are methods and systems for accurate determination of composition of antiknock liquid with the help of sensors, which are already available in engine system. In order to determine content of water and alcohol in antiknock liquid, which is injected directly into engine cylinder or into engine inlet pipeline in response to abnormal combustion indication in engine, there used are oxygen content sensors in intake air or in exhaust gases. Change of pumping current of oxygen sensor due to water content in antiknock liquid is distinguished from change of pumping current of oxygen sensor due to content of alcohol in antiknock liquid.

EFFECT: invention enables to accurately determine the composition of an antiknock liquid without using special sensors, which contributes to more optimal use of the antiknock liquid in order to achieve the best performance of the engine.
