FIELD: engines and pumps.

SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the internal combustion engines. Methods and systems are proposed for injecting water into an engine and regulating engine operation depending on the need to dilute the charge of the working mixture and detonation in the engine. According to the invention, water can be injected into the engine by several nozzles: water injection nozzle into intake manifold, water injection nozzle into air intake duct or direct injection nozzle into cylinder. Amount of water injected and the location of its injection is selected depending on the engine operating mode, the presence of detonation in the engine, and the need for cooling or diluting the charge of the working mixture in the engine.

EFFECT: improved regulation of water injection and improved engine performance.
