SUBSTANCE: paper conversion unit, comprising means for making logs of paper material, starting from one or more paper webs supplied by corresponding projector reels (PR), embossing unit (2), bridge crane (6) with levers (60) equipped with grippers (61), and rewinder (1), which makes logs using webs coming from embossing unit (2), wherein embossing unit (2) is configured to be assembled in a first use configuration, in which one or more embossing rollers (4) located inside it are stably locked on corresponding support means, and a second removal configuration in which said one or more embossing rollers (4) are disengaged from said support means and can be removed from embossing assembly (2), wherein the apparatus also has storage unit (7) storing one or more embossing rollers (4) arranged in a predetermined storage order such that each embossing roller (4) is in a known and set position in storage assembly (7), wherein each embossing roller (4) has a corresponding longitudinal axis (x-x). Plant comprises intermediate facility (8) reversibly connected with grips (61) of overhead crane (6) and each of embossing rolls (4) in phase of displacement of the latter.
