SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a communication apparatus and a method of controlling a communication apparatus. Communication apparatus comprises: a first communication means for transmitting or receiving a synchronization signal in a period that repeats in a predetermined cycle and shared with another communication apparatus belonging to the network; a second communication means for communicating with another communication apparatus belonging to a network in a period other than a period in which transmission or reception are performed by the first communication means; and determination means for determining a period for communication by a second communication means. In case the first period for communication with the first other communication apparatus by means of the second communication means has been determined by the determining means, and in case the communication apparatus matches second other communication apparatus with the second period for communication with second other communication apparatus by means of second communication means, determination means is configured to determine a second period such that the first and second periods overlap at least partially.
