FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a catalytic layer for fuel cells and a method for production thereof. According to the invention, the catalytic layer for the fuel cell contains a carbon carrier with pores, a metal catalyst deposited on the carbon support and an ionomer which covers the carbon support, wherein the length of the carbon carrier crystals is not less than 6 nm, and metal catalyst coating with ionomer makes 55–65 %; and a method of producing a catalytic layer for a fuel cell comprises heat treatment of a carbon support with pores in an atmosphere of an inert gas so that the length of the crystal of the carbon support becomes at least 6 nm, heat treatment of the thermally treated carbon support in an oxygen atmosphere to activate the carbon support, allowing activated carbon carrier to deposit metal catalyst, mixing carbon support with supported metal catalyst and ionomer to coat carbon support with ionomer, and forming a catalytic layer for the fuel cell using a carbon carrier coated with an ionomer.

EFFECT: technical result is improved characteristics of fuel cell.
