FIELD: electrochemical current sources.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a membrane-electrode unit (MEU) for a fuel cell based on a proton-exchange membrane (PEMFC) and a method for manufacturing thereof. Method of making such a composite membrane consists in preliminary exposure of the hydrocarbon membrane in water, application of a fluorine-containing ionomer coating on its surface and subsequent drying.
EFFECT: creation of composite membrane based on hydrocarbon polymer, characterized by high chemical resistance and durability (residual weight loss when holding membrane in Fenton reagent is less than 7%), low moisture absorption (less than 60%), swelling (less than 15%) and gas permeability (leakage current less than 2 mA/cm2).
